A late-Boomer, Denise Shelton was born in Kingston, NY, in 1958. She graduated with a degree in Communications from Ithaca College and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1982 where she worked in interactive media and corporate communications. In 2009, the company she worked for folded. Within a few months, her husband was laid off from the firm where he had worked for 17 years. This blog is intended to be a place where others struggling to make ends meet in a turbulent economy can go for ideas, inspiration, and strategies to help them get by until things get better. The blog’s name was inspired by Red Flannel Hash, a budget stretching dish native to the Northeastern United States.
